Ronda Rousey to Return at UFC 207?

Ronda Rousey could make her long awaited comeback at UFC 207 in December over a year after her last fight when she was brutally knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193.

A lot has changed since Rousey suffered that brutal loss to Holly Holm last year. There have been new champions, new stars, new owners and the popularity of the UFC has continued to grow and has hit new heights in her absence. Ronda is currently ranked #2 in the Women’s Bantamweight division and is still regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

There has been a lot of speculation over the last year on whether Ronda will return to the octagon or not, with her publicly coming out and talking about her battle against depression and suicide. After her defeat to Holm it seemed like she had decided to take some time off and take a much deserved break from the UFC and the spotlight which comes with it.

There has been a lot of predictions on when she would make her comeback. UFC 200 was an obvious choice but when that did not come to fruition everybody turned their attention to UFC 205. Now that the 205 card has been announced we know she will not star in New York so now the new word on the street is she will fight at UFC 207 in Las Vegas.

But if she was to return who would she fight?

The obvious choice would be to have her face off against the current women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes. The Brazilian holds a professional MMA record of 13-4 and fights out of Miami, Florida. Nicknamed the lioness Amanda won the bantamweight belt at UFC 200 when she submitted Miesha Tate in the very first round. She is lightning quick and an elite striker. She picked Tate apart within minutes of the first round demonstrating her lightning quick strikes and used her movement to create angles and overwhelm her opponent. Nunes isn’t just good on her feet she is also a high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt who can choke you out just as easy as she can knock you out. This will be by no means an easy return for the former champion Rousey if she does choose to return and take the fight.

Another name which has been thrown around a lot lately is that of Cris Cyborg’s. Cyborg who dominated Lina Lansberg at UFC Fight Night 95 has been constantly linked with Ronda Rousey throughout her career. Now coming off the back of another win in the UFC speculation has started to increase around these two fighters finally facing off.  Dana White has added coal to this fire saying on the “UFC Unfiltered” podcast “ Listen Ronda wants to fight her” Dana continued saying “We’d have to figure out at what weight but Ronda wants that fight” This fight would be a mouth-watering affair whether you’re a UFC fan or not, but I don’t think it will happen this year with Cyborg still having to figure out what weight class she will fight in.
