In Gee Chun Leads at Evian Masters

The final major of the LPGA season is taking place this weekend at the Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France. In Gee Chun leads at 13-under par, two shots ahead of Shanshan Fang. Sung Hyun Park, So Yeon Ru and Eun-Hee Ji, also from South Korea and in the top seven. Brittany Lincicome and Angela Sanford of the United States round out the top seven heading into Saturday’s third round.

Chun opened with an 8-under par 63, tying Sung Hyun Park for the round of the tournament. In less than ideal conditions on Friday, In Gee Chun continued stellar play with seven birdies and a single bogey, for a round of 66. Shanshan Fang of China opened with a 64 and followed with a 67 that included six birdies and two bogeys.  Park followed her stellar first round with a 3-under par 68 and is tied with Fang.  So Yeon Ru has put together two rock solid rounds of 66 and is alone at 10-under par.

Angela Sanford is the highest ranked American on the leader board thus far, compiling rounds of 65 and 68.  Brittany Lincicome opened with a 68 and put herself in position for a weekend charge with a round of 66, sitting tied with Eun-Hee Ji at 8-under par.
