'Smallville' actress pleads guilty in sex cult case

Allison Mack of Smallville to Plead Guilty in Nxivm Sex Trafficking Case

The Latest: Actress Allison Mack pleads guilty

Clare Bronfman, an heiress of the Seagram's liquor empire, arrives at the Brooklyn Federal Courthouse, for her trial regarding sex trafficking and racketeering related to the Nxivm cult in the Brooklyn borough of ny, U.S., January 9, 2019.

Lauren was also a "master" in DOS - and has admitted to keeping her own personal slave locked in a room for two years - while Nancy confessed to hacking into emails of the group's perceived enemies and destroying evidence that could be used against it. It is unknown at this time whether Mack had agreed to a cooperation agreement in exchange for her plea.

One of the plaintiffs said that at some point all the other slaves directly under Mack "learned that Raniere was Mack's master and their grandmaster".

"Through it all, I believed that Raniere's intention was to help people", she continued. She is due to be sentenced in July.

Former "Smallville" actress Allison Mack is scheduled to plead guilty in the Nxivm sex cult case Monday, according to the court calendar. The group heavily attracted women, including a number of high-profile actresses like Mack, her Smallville co-star Kristen Kreuk, and Battlestar Galactica's Nicki Clyne.

Mack is accused of recruiting women to join what she told them was a female mentorship group when, in fact, it was an organization created and led by Nxivm's founder, Keith Raniere, also known within the group as Vanguard. Although the charges that Mack pleaded guilty to are both considered white collar crimes, these could net her up to a few decades in prison.

The indictment released previous year claimed many so-called slaves were branded on their pelvic areas using a cauterizing pen with a symbol which, unbeknownst to them, incorporated Raniere's initials. The actress pleaded guilty on April 8, 2019.

Prosecutors allege the group mirrors a pyramid scheme, in which members paid thousands of dollars for courses to rise within its ranks.

Seagram's liquor heiress Clare Bronfman faces charges for her alleged involvement.

The lawyer previously said his client's sexual encounters with women in Nxivm were consensual and denied the child pornography charges.

Two members of Raniere's inner circle have pleaded guilty, while Mack and two other co-defendants are seeking separate trials.
