Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief of India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah, greet each other before releasing their party's election manifesto on Wednesday. He also added that BJP is going forward with 75 resolutions that they fulfil by the year 2022 when India completes 75 years of independence.
The BJP has consistently advocated an end to occupied Kashmir's special constitutional status, which prevents outsiders from buying property there, arguing that such laws have hindered its "integration" with the rest of India.
The manifesto further highlighted the "apprehensions of the people from the Northeast" and said that the bill will protect the linguistic identity of the Northeast states.
"We believe that Article 35A is an obstacle in the development of the state", the party's manifesto said.
Political leaders in Muslim-majority Kashmir, where India is fighting an armed insurgency against its rule, have warned that repealing the law would lead to widespread unrest.

The BJP also promised capital investment of $1.44 trillion in infrastructure by 2024, to help create jobs for millions entering the workforce each year.
