When astronauts are in space, the weightlessness caused by microgravity can cause changes to human's bodies that can ultimately lead to bones and muscles breaking down and fluid moving toward a person's head, according to NASA. The experiment is called AGBRESA (Artificial Gravity Bed Rest - European Space Agency), and the selected test subjects will be paid 16,500 euros (approx INR 13 lacs).
NASA has been conducting studies under its Human Research Program (HRP) that is dedicated to discovering the best methods and technologies to support safe and productive human space travel.
"This bed rest study conducted by DLR, NASA and ESA offers space researchers from all over Europe and the US the opportunity to work together and jointly acquire as much scientific knowledge about human physiology as possible".
Currently, astronauts on board the International Space Station exercise for up to 2.5 hours per day and maintain a balanced diet to help alleviate microgravity's effects, according to ESA. More details have surfaced about that study, and it pays very well for doing nothing but laying in bed. The study will take place in Cologne and will require participants to spend 60 days lying down.
Wow Air ceases operations after investment talks collapse
Saurabh Aggarwal, who was due to fly from Toronto to Reykjavik on Wow Air, described a chaotic scene at Toronto airport. Recent failures include Britain's Flybmi , Nordic budget airline Primera Air and Cypriot counterpart Cobalt .
One group will be rotated in a centrifuge, like an artificial gravity chamber, while the other group won't move, ABC News reported.
Researchers are still looking for volunteers for the second phase of the study in autumn.
