Meghan McCain Finds Herself Defending Her Father's Honor After This Trump Tweet

During an interview on Monday's broadcast of Fox News Radio's "Brian Kilmeade Show", House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stated that there's no benefit to President Trump attacking the late Senator John McCain and should "separate" McCain's life from the Steele Dossier.

Meghan McCain responded to the president's tweet Saturday about her father by suggesting the president should spend more time with his family instead of obsessing over hers.

"And I thought, your life is spent on your weekends not with your family, not with your friends, but obsessing, obsessing about great men you could never live up to", she said, contrasting Trump with her father.

"I can't imagine having a father that does this on the weekends", she said, to which co-hose Joy Behar replied: "Oh, they're all on the same page".

Trump's recent attack on McCain, who passed away in August, is the latest in his years-long offensive feud against the late senator, this time targeting McCain's ties to the controversial Russian Federation dossier and his vote against repealing Obamacare. "He & the Dems, working together, failed (as usual)".

In his tweet, Trump quoted U.S. Solicitor General Ken Starr and insisted the late Senator, who lost the battle with his brain tumor, had many "stains" on his political career. Even the Fake News refused this garbage!, the president wrote on Sunday.

Co-host Joy Behar kicked off the segment with an attack of her own, calling Trump "pathetic" and referencing tweets he posted over the weekend criticizing the late Republican Arizona Sen. Shortly before his death, Senator McCain excluded the president from his funeral.

Meghan McCain came to the defense of her father who died in August 2018 at the age of 81.

Trump, who bypassed military service himself, had only words of contempt for the senator who he famously dismissed as "not a war hero" on the grounds he was taken prisoner in Vietnam.

Trump began unloading on McCain on Saturday afternoon about the dossier and McCain's 2017 vote that scuttled Republicans' attempt to repeal ObamaCare. "I could not independently verify any of it, and so I did what any American who cares about our nation's security should have done".
