Tannehill, 30, played in 88 career games in seven seasons in Miami, and he completed 1,829-of-2,911 passes for 20,434 yards, with 123 touchdowns and 75 interceptions. Well this matters because he could be a serious option for the Dolphins, or they could decide to go through the draft or trade for Josh Rosen. The 2012 first-round pick was traded to the Tennessee Titans on Friday, along with a sixth-round choice in the upcoming National Football League draft, in exchange for a 2020 fourth-rounder and 2019 seventh-rounder. The only two on the depth chart are Luke Falk, a rookie from Washington state; and Jake Rudock, a three-year veteran out of MI.

The move makes sense for the Titans in that way.

Tannehill will become a well-accomplished backup for Marcus Mariota in Tennessee. The Dolphins haven't really been linked to many quarterbacks in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, but that's largely a result of where they're picking.

General manager Jon Robinson remedied that issue Friday, bringing longtime Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill aboard.

Shield your eyes Dolphins fans; this season won't be pretty. He missed the 2017 season with a knee injury.

Mariota, the former second-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, hasn't necessarily proven himself as a guy worthy of a monster contract.

The most important position on the field needs to be filled by the Dolphins.
