India said it foiled Pakistani attempt to carry out strike in Jammu and Kashmir, by shooting down one F-16 fighter of Pakistan Air Force while losing its own MiG-21 fighter after which a pilot went "missing in action".
Air Canada says it has temporarily suspended flights to India due to the closure of Pakistani airspace.
Pakistan said Wednesday it had shot down two Indian warplanes and captured two pilots in the disputed region of Kashmir, raising tensions on the Asian subcontinent to a level unseen this century.

An Indian military statement said that "out of anger and frustration", Pakistan "initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation".
In the worst escalation between warring neighbors in decades, Pakistani fighter jets attacked military installations a day after IAF demolished Jaish-e-Mohammed's biggest terror camp in Balakot across the border on Tuesday.
