On Wednesday, Pakistan claimed it shot down two Indian fighter jets over Pakistani air space and arrested a pilot.

India said it foiled Pakistani attempt to carry out strike in Jammu and Kashmir, by shooting down one F-16 fighter of Pakistan Air Force while losing its own MiG-21 fighter after which a pilot went "missing in action".

Air Canada says it has temporarily suspended flights to India due to the closure of Pakistani airspace.

Pakistan said Wednesday it had shot down two Indian warplanes and captured two pilots in the disputed region of Kashmir, raising tensions on the Asian subcontinent to a level unseen this century.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: "We strongly support rapid dialogue between India and Pakistan in order to reduce the conflict, reduce the tensions and deal with the root causes of it before more lives are lost". Pakistan has claimed that he is in their custody.

"Our action is just to let them know that just like they intruded into our territory, we are also capable of going into their territory", he added.

In the worst escalation between warring neighbors in decades, Pakistani fighter jets attacked military installations a day after IAF demolished Jaish-e-Mohammed's biggest terror camp in Balakot across the border on Tuesday.
