Wolves were another Premier League club to qualify for the last eight with a 1-0 win away to Bristol City, who are now fifth in the Championship.

"The only problem I have with Phil is one, he has to compete with Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, David Silva and Bernardo Silva", Guardiola told a news conference.

"He's a player who is ready to play".

"Pep came over after the game and congratulated me that I'd scored, and when you hear that from someone like him it means a lot".

"He helped us to win the game with two incredible goals".

"We know that he's a guy who (is) close to the box and has this mentality to score goals, and he has the ability to do that".

City survived a tricky first half against a side that had already beaten Leicester City and Middlesbrough and nearly took the lead through a Tyreeq Bakinson header that was superbly saved by Ederson.

Pep Guardiola's side didn't have an easy ride in a full-blooded fifth round tie against a team 82 places below them in League Two.

"Every club, every team, every single player would like to lift this trophy some time". They're in good form and have won a couple of games and are back in form. "They were very respectful of us which was brilliant, they even invited us into the dressing room after the game".

"We knew they would tire and they did in the end". Winning here - I realise what English football is today - we are not used to these types of games.

Venezuela's Guaido calls for nationwide protests to allow USA aid to enter
But Maduro, who asserts that aid could be used as a cover for a USA invasion, called for reinforced border security. Guaido has announced that humanitarian aid will enter Venezuela on Saturday, the day after Branson's concert.

"We are Premier League footballers so we can handle any pitch", Foden said. They were 4-0 up after 24 minutes against a much bigger club than us.

Foden played alongside David Silva in midfield and the Spaniard also earned praised for the way he played on the hard Rodney Parade pitch.

Foden scored twice at Rodney Parade - the first double of his senior career - and the 18-year-old Stockport-born midfielder impressed throughout, with TV presenter and former England striker Gary Lineker describing him as "a great talent".

But a second goal for youngster Foden arrived 71 seconds later before Riyad Mahrez rubbed salt into Newport's wounds with virtually the last kick of the game.

"We are still in four competitions and we accept all the challenges", said Guardiola.

Fernandinho has been ever-present in deep midfield for City but today we are likely to see Ilkay Gundogan take up that position.

"You play League Two then Champions League".

It should be a relatively straight-forward tie for City, with Schalke being undoubtedly the weakest team remaining in the Champions League.

Oleksandr Zinchenko's impressive display against Chelsea might have handed the Ukrainian an opportunity to impress further.
