2nd woman accuses Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax of sexual assault calls for his resignation Justin Fairfax

The latest information on the Republican politician comes as Americans discuss other racially-charged matters concerning Virginia's Democratic leaders: a racist photo in Gov. Ralph Northam's yearbook, sexual assault allegations against Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, and Attorney General Mark Herring's admittance to wearing blackface.

Bottom line: I think Tyson's telling the truth but I don't feel confident enough absent contemporary evidence to risk ruining Fairfax's life over it. A two-thirds majority in the Senate is needed to remove Fairfax from office.

Lawyers for Meredith Watson released a statement Friday saying that she was raped by Fairfax while they were both Duke University students in 2000 and called for Fairfax's resignation. "I have never forced myself on anyone ever", Fairfax said, added that he was calling for an investigation.

Fairfax has strongly denied the allegations - now being made by two women - and says he has insisted he has no plans to resign.

And in statements Thursday night, the state legislature's Black Caucus and Virginia's Democratic congressional delegation reiterated calls for the governor to step down, while the state House Democrats - who also previously called for Northam's resignation - said they remain disappointed in him. "I will clear my good name and have nothing to hide".

"As a former prosecutor and someone who is close with a number of women who are survivors of sexual assault, I know that many survivors of sexual assault suffer in silence, and it is absolutely essential to their healing and our healing as a culture that we give all survivors the space and support to voice their stories", he said.

Watson's lawyer said Friday that Fairfax's "attack was premeditated and aggressive" and not consensual. McAuliffe wrote, "The allegations against Justin Fairfax are serious and credible".

Tyson, an associate professor of political science at Scripps College in Claremont, California, said the news that Fairfax might succeed Gov. Ralph Northam due to a scandal over Northam's racist yearbook photo had "flooded me with painful memories, bringing back feelings of grief, shame, and anger".

While that alone is impressive, it seems that's nothing compared to what the free-to-play battle royale title has achieved now. As it's also a free-to-play game, it's expected to take on Fortnite in the future - assuming the game's success continues.

"The multiple detailed allegations against the Lt. Gov. of Virginia are deeply troubling", Sen.

Watson said Fairfax assaulted her in 2000 while they were both at Duke University.

A firestorm of scandals embroiling Virginia's governor and two fellow Democrats at the top of the state's executive branch spread to the Republican leader of the state Senate yesterday as US President Donald Trump weighed in to stoke the political crisis. Although the alleged assault took place in 2004, Tyson said she did not begin to disclose the events to anyone until she heard of Fairfax's campaign for lieutenant governor in 2017.

Last Friday, a conservative website published a picture of Northam's medical school yearbook, which included a picture of one man in blackface and a second in a Ku Klux Klan outfit. That changed on Friday, with Democrats rushing to demand that Fairfax step down, too. Patrick Hope, said he intends to introduce articles of impeachment against Fairfax on Monday if Fairfax hasn't left by then.

Democratic 2020 presidential hopefuls echoed those calls.

If Fairfax were to leave, there's no consensus on who could replace him. But he admitted to reporters that he wore blackface in a 1984 Michael Jackson dance contest.

Dr. Tyson did not tell anyone in 2004 about the encounter with Mr. Fairfax, according to people close to her legal team, and she did not notify or file a complaint with police...
