Jets hire Adam Gase Instant analysis of New York's new head coach

The decision comes as the only team to have taken interest in McCarthy, the Jets, have reportedly chose to hire former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase to fill their head coach vacancy.

A head coach and quarterback are tied together automatically, and in New York Gase will inherit a promising young signal caller in Sam Darnold.

Gase becomes the first offensive-minded head coach the Jets hired since Rich Kotite, which may bode well for the Jets' franchise quarterback. After all, Manning threw for a career-high 55 touchdowns and 5,477 passing yards en route to a Super Bowl title at age 37 with Gase as Denver's offensive coordinator.

Williams spent last season with the Cleveland Browns as defensive coordinator and interim head coach.

Chelsea ready to loan out Morata as Sarri eyes Higuain
Sarri has shuffled his pack around due to the injuries to Giroud and Morata by playing Eden Hazard as the striker in recent games. According to report from the Stamford Bridge , Higuain is expected to earn about £140,000 a week when he finally joins the club.

Those factors combined, Johnson insisted leading into the team's search, made the Jets an attractive spot for a head coach to land.

Gase was sacked after this season as part of an organizational shake-up after the Dolphins finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the 15th time in 17 years. But the team struggled the following year, going 6-10 with quarterback Ryan Tannehill sidelined all season following knee surgery. Injuries and personnel errors doomed the Dolphins, and they were never close to contention in Gase's tenure again.

The Bengals-Joseph interview was reportedly a two-day affair.

This isn't a move that's going to be met with optimism from the long downtrodden Jets fan base.
