Amazon Web Services announces its own custom-designed ARM server processor

He added that the vendor already has a "couple" of Ground Stations up and running for its pilot customers, with 10 more expected to be stood up for the middle of next year.

Currently, sending data to and from orbit doesn't come cheap, he said, as satellites generate massive data streams when observing the earth, and space ventures rely on many applications that consume that data to "change how we interact with our planet", Jassy said. Traditionally, government organizations or enterprises who have required access to satellite data needed to build or lease ground antennas to communicate with the satellites at significant cost and effort.

In collaboration with global aerospace company Lockheed Martin, AWS will integrate its network of ground station services with the former's new antenna network to give customers the ability to download data from multiple satellites at the same time.

With AWS, Ellie Mae will become a more agile organization, reducing operating costs, and accelerating its pace of innovation so that it can better serve customers including banks, credit unions, and mortgage lending institutions of all sizes.

AWS noted that achieving the AWS IoT Service Delivery designation for AWS IoT Core differentiates Klika Tech as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that provides specialized, demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success in delivering AWS solutions.

Hyde-Smith Hangs On For Senate Win In Spite Of Controversies
She is the first woman to hold a Senate seat in the state - and is now the first woman elected to the Senate in Mississippi. Speaking to supporters after her win, Ms Hyde-Smith vowed to fight for everyone in the state when she goes to Washington.

For space agencies and companies, AWS Ground Station will be "a game changer in how people can interact with satellites", Jassy said. "And, they will be able to ingest data straight into AWS, where they can securely store, analyze, and transmit products to their customers".

At present, AWS Ground Station has space firms and satellite imaging companies like Lockheed Martin, BlackSky and Open Cosmos as part of its clientele.

"We process more than a third of mortgage applications in the United States, and use AWS to help us deliver on our mission of the true digital mortgage, so lenders can achieve compliance, quality, and efficiency", said Satheesh Ravala, Senior Vice President, Cloud Engineering and Operations at Ellie Mae. "AWS Ground Station allows us to expand that in an elastic fashion and lets us get into the cloud much faster". The company will be using Lockheed Martin's low-priced, ground-based antennas to capture satellite data. Their satellite receivers will connect directly to AWS Ground Stations, managing data downloads in real time and meeting unexpected demand.

The collaboration will allow for a network of low-priced ground-based antennas, developed by Lockheed Martin, which will help capture satellite data and connect into the AWS network. The systems are now piloting in Denver area.

One of the use cases highlighted for the new satellite service was for when natural disasters strike.
