Hyde-Smith, a Republican, faces Mike Espy, a Democratic former congressman and agriculture secretary, in Tuesday's runoff in MS - the final Senate race to be decided in 2018. Cindy Hyde-Smith leading in the only poll since the primary election over Democrat and former Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy. Trump said she made it somewhat "in jest" and that she felt bad about it.

Trump and Hyde-Smith are set to appear together Monday in the northeastern city of Tupelo, best known as the birthplace of Elvis Presley.

In talking about the economy, Espy's campaign website says he promotes worker training and building infrastructure to support business, such as statewide broadband.

On Friday, the Jackson Free Press reported that Hyde-Smith attended a private high school that was founded in 1970 so that white parents could avoid attempts to integrate schools by sending their children to schools without black students.

On Nov. 15, another video surfaced online in which Hyde-Smith said making it more hard for people to vote is a "great idea". The victor Tuesday gets the final two years of a six-year term.

Illinois Cox Littleton, 92, of Jackson, Miss., seated, went to the Hinds County Courthouse in Jackson on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, to cast an absentee ballot in a U.S. Senate runoff election. Hyde-Smith served as a state senator from 2000 to 2012. Hyde-Smith has held the seat since Cochran's retirement.

"I have met with the president, and I proudly support him in negotiating these trades", she said. "I have stood up for you and you know I will continue to stand up for the conservative values of MS".

Later, at a Christmas-themed rally in Biloxi, where Trump emerged on the stage from a chimney, he said that Democrats want to impose an "extreme job-killing agenda" and that a vote for Espy would be a vote for a "Democrat agenda of socialism and open borders".

The landing capped a six-month journey of 548 million kilometres from Earth, following its launch from California in May. NASA's InSight probe landed on Mars a few hours ago after a rigorous voyage through space of almost seven months.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has endorsed Espy, and three Democrats who could run for president in 2020 - Sens.

For Espy, turnout is key. The state last elected a Democrat to the Senate in 1982.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. But if Black voters rise to 40 percent of the electorate and Espy wins 9 out of 10, he needs less than a quarter of White votes to squeak out a victory.

A video shot on 3 November showed Hyde-Smith talking about "liberal folks" and making it "just a little more difficult" for them to vote. His campaign has focused more on issues such as social justice, health care and raising wages. One sign said MS needs a senator "who respects the lives of lynch victims". "She's a person that loves the people of MS, she loves the people of this country".

Espy also has carefully picked his time to talk about race.

While the MLB front office has donated to many political candidates on both sides of the aisle during this past campaign - including Ted Cruz, Dianne Feinstein, Jeff Flake and more - donating to a candidate who has fallen into hot water like Hyde-Smith can make for a weird look for the league as a whole.

She has also been seen wearing a Confederate rebel hat in a Facebook photo. Walmart, Pfizer, AT&T, Boston Scientific, Union Pacific, and Leidos also asked for Hyde-Smith to return campaign contributions.
