Hoddle, capped 53 times for England, was considered to be one of the best players of his generation. "Our thoughts are also with his family and friends at what will be an extremely hard time for everyone who knows him".
This is while Tottenham Hotspur said: 'Everybody at the Club sends their best wishes to @GlennHoddle for a full and speedy recovery after he was taken ill this morning'.
He worked at the 2018 World Cup as part of ITV Sport's team in Russian Federation having acted as co-commentator for England internationals for a number of years previously, while he is also a regular on BT Sport's coverage of the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League.
