Democrat Andrew Gillum, Florida's first black gubernatorial candidate, is facing off against Republican Ron DeSantis hoping to fill the seat that will be vacated by current Florida Governor Rick Scott when his term limit expires in 2019.
"Under Secretary Kemp, more people have lost the right to vote in the state of Georgia", Abrams said. During the debate, DeSantis deflected all allegations.
In one of the most powerful moments of the night, Gillum confronted DeSantis, a former US representative, over the bigoted tenor his campaign had taken on in the weeks since the Trump-backed Republican told voters not to "monkey this up" by voting for his black opponent.
"Looking inside the numbers of the governor's race between Mayor Andrew Gillum and former U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, we see shining examples of the problems Republicans face this year, not just in Florida, but around the country", Brown said.
Gillum's campaign pushed back against any implication that he had misled the public, saying that his brother, the previously cited source of the ticket, was part of the "crew" cited in the text.
"Well, hello there! I is the negro, Andrew Gillum, and I be askin' you to make me governor of this here state of Florida", the minute-long call begins, according to a recording obtained by the Post. Gillum claimed that his brother had purchased tickets.
"I was aware that Adam Corey and Mike Miller [one of the undercover agents] arranged so that we could go and see the show". I can tell you, we're not doing it.
"These disgusting, abhorrent robocalls represent a continuation of the ugliest, most divisive campaign in Florida's history", Gillum campaign spokesman Geoff Burgan said in a statement.

The documents were turned over to the Florida Commission on Ethics by Christopher Kise, a well-known Tallahassee attorney representing lobbyist Adam Corey.
On score, Democrats believe they scored a solid win, arguing Gillum remained calm and collected in contrast with DeSantis. He said his brother, Marcus, had gotten the "Hamilton" tickets by swapping them for Jay-Z concert tickets.
Shawn Kinsey, chairman of the Polk County Democratic Party, said the robocall, which was left on his voicemail, was "disgusting" and "took me aback". "He basically said he paid for it".
Like he did during the pair's first meeting on CNN Sunday night, Gillum also sought to turn the issue around on DeSantis by pointing to what he described as Republicans' shoddy treatment of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Capitol Hill.
On Tuesday, new documents from the FBI's investigation seemed to contradict a claim from Gillum.
The records also include information on other trips involving Corey and Gillum and include texts between "Mike Miller" and Corey about setting up meetings with Gillum.
