Denver Broncos backup quarterback Chad Kelly was reportedly arrested early Tuesday morning in Englewood, Colorado on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespassing.

Elway also drew a strong distinction between a Von Miller-hosted Halloween event and Kelly's behavior, which happened away from an event that included - among others - Broncos players, their significant others and members of other Denver teams.

According to court records, a man wearing dark trousers, a long-sleeve shirt underneath a black vest and a red scarf around his neck walked into a stranger's home after 1 a.m., sat on the couch and was "mumbling incoherently".

Kelly was found by police sitting in his SUV outside the Halloween party location, where he had obviously left and apparently intruded on someone's home.

According to the affidavit, Kelly did not have any alcohol in his system.

Kelly made an appearance in an Arapahoe County courthouse later Tuesday morning. Rapoport says Elway is "extremely angry" and all options, including releasing the second-year quarterback, are still on the table. The home's occupant chased the man out of the residence and responding officers searched the area, police said. This is a very serious situation for Kelly and now the Broncos are looking to 2019 and beyond without him in the picture, at least not before getting some help and serving a suspension. He subbed in for Case Keenum amid "Kelly" chants to kneel out the time remaining in the first half.

In April 2014, he was kicked off of Clemson University's football team for "conduct detrimental to the team". During the team's bye week, he'd attended the game of his younger brother, and ran out of the stands and onto the field when a late hit on his brother, the team's quarterback, led to a scuffle between both sides.

Kelly's spectacular college career at Ole Miss was marked by off-field slip-ups, although he hadn't been in any trouble since the Broncos drafted him.

Kelly beat out Paxton Lynch for the Broncos' backup quarterback job over the summer.
