It's not much of a surprise.
Wentz still hasn't been medically cleared for contact as he comes back from surgery last December to fix two torn ligaments in his left knee.
Pederson did allow that Wentz, recovering from surgery to fix his ACL and LCL in his left knee, still has not been cleared for contact. On Monday, he announced his decision. If your league starts only one QB per week, hopefully you have someone better than Foles.
Atlantic Hurricane Season Has Been Quiet:That's About to Change
Tropical Storm Florence developed Saturday morning west of the Cabo Verde Islands, according to the National Hurricane Center . We are not anticipating any impacts for us, or the USA , but shifts in the forecast track are certainly possible.
Foles didn't shine in his two regular-season starts in 2017, but he stepped up during the playoffs and threw for more than 300 yards with three touchdowns in both the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LII. Wentz tore his LCL as well, which delayed the rehab process and made for a more complicated surgery and recovery.
Wentz has been practicing, has looked good and says he feels good, but not being cleared for contact is a bit of a warning flag. With the Week 1 deadline out of the way, it will be interesting to see just how long the Eagles wait to put their franchise quarterback back onto the field.
Thus Philadelphia might strongly prefer to give Wentz the start if that were possible, but while reports have been very positive about his mobility, he doesn't appear to be quite ready yet.
It was always assumed that Wentz would be healthy in time for the season opener, but since he still hasn't been cleared, Foles will get to extend his 15 minutes of fame for at least another game.
