Amazon is changing the terms of its Prime benefits for video game pre-orders, replacing the 20 percent discount with a $10 Amazon promotional credit on "select title", as first spotted by Twitter user Wario64. With ads, the platform and game creators can get a cut. "We want Twitch to remain a place where anyone can enjoy one-of-a-kind interactive entertainment, and ads allow us to continue making Twitch the best place for creators to build communities around the things they love and make money doing it". "As a result, universal ad-free viewing will no longer be part of Twitch Prime for new members, starting on September 14", Twitch said in a blog post. Members with monthly subscriptions will continue to get ad-free viewing until October 15. Twitch has also stated that there will also be ad-free options for specific channels who choose to turn the option on. Once you get that credit, you can use it on nearly anything that Amazon sells, not just games.
While it's a bit disappointing to see the perk taken away, Twitch seems to be using the freed up resources to focus on better freebies in the future. You can activate your Twitch Prime subscription after getting on Amazon Prime - you can go for a free Amazon Prime trial here.
Sooners No. 7 in preseason AP poll, Cowboys unranked
Past year the Crimson Tide became the first AP preseason No. 1 to win a national championship since Southern California in 2004. Winners of five national championships under head coach Nick Saban since 2009, Alabama received 42 out of 61 first-place votes.
All other Twitch Prime benefits, like monthly channel subs, monthly games and loot, and chat badges are not changing.
Twitch Prime is a great way to earn a load of extra goodies if you consume a lot of content on the streaming service.
All those who now have a monthly subscription will be able to continue getting ad-free viewing until October 15. Thank you for your support.
