Francesco Molinari Becomes First Italian To Win A Major Championship

US golfer Tiger Woods watches his iron shot from the 3rd tee during his final round on day 4 of The 147th Open golf Championship at Carnoustie Scotland

Here's some jackass yelling in the middle of Tiger's swing on the 18th tee at the Open

After Molinari won at Carnoustie, Bryan tweeted out the Open champion's retirement plans, which the two golfers had chatted about at a tournament in China earlier this year.

It was a memorable moment for Molinari, whose two-shot victory at Carnoustie was all-the-more impressive as he partnered a resurgent Tiger Woods on the final day and had to watch the 14-time major victor take the lead himself at one point.

That vaulted McIlroy into a six-way tie for the lead and Rose joined the expanding group on six under with a tap-in birdie on 18, two days after he needed a birdie on the same hole just to make the cut.

While Molinari was making his bleary way to London on three hours' sleep on Monday and finding it hard to let the jug out of his sight, Rocca was to be found 25 miles from Carnoustie on the Old Course, preparing for the Senior Open this week. A little more than a year ago, on the heels of a fourth surgical procedure to try and fix his ravaged back, Woods told ESPN's Scott Van Pelt that he might never play competitive golf again.

Woods had the lead for three holes at Carnoustie until a double bogey at No. 11, and he wound up tied for sixth. Some journalists at the Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland had never witnessed Woods win a major.

Police accidentally tear gas several Tour de France riders amid farmers' protest
Belgian cyclist Philippe Gilbert has shared a gruesome photo of his broken knee following withdrawal from the Tour de France . Police were said to be arresting some protesters after farmers threw hay bales across the road before the peloton's arrival.

Rocca also beat Tiger Woods in the 1997 Ryder Cup at Valderrama and Molinari coincidentally played alongside Woods in the final round at Carnoustie, where a flawless closing 69 saw him become the first Italian victor of a major title. Just because Woods was a great golfer almost a decade ago doesn't mean he will make a miraculous recovery and be great again.

McIlroy is back in the mix and among the crowded leaders.

"Today was a good day for both of us with that, I guess". I hit really good putts too. You know, everything. There's a lot of big names up there. "In the beginning of the year, if you had said, 'You'll be playing in the Open Championship, ' I would have said, you know, 'I'll be very lucky to do that'".

Woods, who was watched by his children and got adoring hugs as he left the final green, admitted he was "a little ticked off with himself" but said his close friend and tennis superstar Serena Williams - who lost in the Wimbledon singles final last weekend - would set him right. I played the way I wanted to play this week. That doesn't happen very often, especially around that golf course. "I figured no-one's going to run away, I can pick up some strokes and I did that to get back in the lead".

"It will be interesting to see going forward, but this was his first taste of major championship - of the drama, I guess, for quite a while (of the final round)".
