Melania Trump's 'I don't care' jacket causes kerfuffle

First Lady Pays Surprise Visit to Migrant Children at Texas Detention Shelter

Melania Trump Wears 'I Really Don't Care' Jacket to Border

It's a ZARA jacket that retails for about $40.

The text on the back of the jacket - "I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?" - was an odd choice for a visit to a Texas detention center housing immigrant children.

"It's a jacket", Stephanie Grisham, her spokeswoman, reportedly said. "She feels the executive order yesterday paved the way forward but there is still more to be done and she wants to lend her support". Given that, her choice to wear the $39 Zara jacket as she headed on her unexpected trip to the border raised eyebrows.

But in some sort of bizarrely insensitive fashion no-no, Melania chose to board the plane to the middle of a major human rights debate wearing a long green jacket that said "I don't really care, do u?" on the back. There was no hidden message.

Over the weekend Mrs Trump spoke out about the controversial issue of family separation, which was being carried out by her hubby's administration.

As she headed back to her plane, she put the jacket back on.

After a tour of facilities, Grimsham said the images of the little ones kept behind a chain-link fence "struck her, as a mother, as a human being".

It was a momentous day for Luis Suarez - the forward earned his 100th cap for Uruguay and he crowned the occasion with a goal. He fell back to defend and raced forward alongside Edinson Cavani on the counterattack.

Melania Trump visited the Upbring New Hope Children's Shelter, a federally-funded facility that houses about 55 children from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, ages five to 17.

However, Melania was not wearing the jacket when she landed in McAllen, Texas.

I know it's early, and you're probably not keen to have your blood boil just yet, but here's some audio from detention centres.

However, Melania could have merely meant to cover up her outfit while traveling.

Meanwhile, Grisham tweeted annoyance at the media for even asking about the jacket. "(Much like her high heels last year)".

She was engaged and asked questions throughout their discussion, thanking the representatives at the table for treating the immigrant children who have been separated from their families with "kindness" and "compassion".

She had changed into more sensible sneakers by the time she got off the plane in Texas but the Twitterverse had a field day sneering.
