Watchdog faults Comey over Clinton probe, but says no bias

The Irony About The DOJ Lawsuit Filed By Disgraced Ex Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe

Comey 'broke norms but not biased' - agency watchdog report

The long-awaited Justice Department examination into the FBI's investigation of Hillary Clinton's e-mails also revealed a cozy relationship between some Washington reporters and G-men.

The report found that Comey deviated from FBI and Justice Department norms during the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

Comey said the report "found no evidence that bias or improper motivation affected the investigation, which I know was done competently, honestly and independently".

At a congressional hearing last May, he said he was concerned that the Justice Department could not "credibly" announce the conclusion of its investigation, in part because Lynch had met aboard her plane with former US President Bill Clinton.

A long-serving law enforcement official, Comey became a controversial figure in the 2016 election, drawing accusations from both Republicans and Democrats that his handling of an investigation into Clinton's emails influenced the campaign.

Comey announced the Clinton investigation was being re-opened just days before the general election.

"One of the most damming pieces of evidence was a never before seen text message from embattled FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok to his paramour former FBI Attorney Lisa Page where he suggests that he will not allow Trump to become president", she adds.

Likely to get the most attention by President Donald Trump and his allies are revelations of further text message exchanges between FBI official Peter Strzok - who worked on the Clinton e-mail investigation and, for a time, the probe of possible collusion between Russian Federation sources and the Trump campaign - and FBI lawyer Lisa Page. Right?!" and Strzok responded,"No.

White Ferns smash record 490-4
New Zealand Women broke the world record for the highest one-day global total by making 490-4 against Ireland in Dublin today. The New Zealand bowling unit put in a highly-polished performance, led by a career-best 4-17 by off-spinner Leigh Kasperek.

Horowitz found a "troubling lack of any direct, substantive communication" between Comey and Attorney-General Lynch ahead of Comey's July 5 press conference on Clinton and his October 28 letter to Congress.

An earlier inspector general report criticised McCabe and led to his firing on allegations that he misled internal investigators about his role in a news media disclosure.

Though the inspector general condemned individual FBI officials, the report fell significantly short in supporting the assertion by the president and his allies that the investigation was rigged in favor of Clinton, according to a person familiar with its content, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share findings before the report's formal release.

Comey, Strzok, and Page all reportedly used their private emails to conduct official business.

The watchdog report also concluded that Comey's handling of Clinton's email investigation was "extraordinary and insubordinate" but was not motivated by political boas.

"Comey did an oped to prebut the IG report". Comey told the IG that fear of leaks didn't drive his decision, but the report says several top Federal Bureau of Investigation officials recalled that concerns about unauthorized disclosures came up in discussions about informing Congress. The FBI had found evidence of previously undiscovered emails on the computer of former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, who was then married to a top Clinton aide.

The inspector general's detailed report is set to be released later in the day.

"The OIG report makes clear that we've got some work to do", Wray said. "If any other FBI Agent has done what Comey did and not refer the case to DOJ to make a decision, that agent would be fired from their job and likely be charged with obstruction of justice". "Thanks to IG's people for hard work". Numerous delays. Hope Report is not being changed and made weaker! The report did not discuss the special counsel's investigation.
