Navarro said that Trudeau's press conference following Trump's early departure from the G7 summit on Saturday was "one of the worst political miscalculations of a Canadian leader in modern Canadian history".
The G-7 summit communique called for working together to stimulate economic growth "that benefits everyone", and highlighted a commitment to a "rules-based global trading system" and "fight protectionism".
The announcement came after the president left the summit, which while in attendance he had announced he wants to put an end to the United States' status as the world's "piggy bank" and suggested eliminating trade barriers between allies.

Kudlow later tied Trudeau's comments to the president's upcoming Singapore summit with North Korean despot Kim Jong-Un and explained that if anything went wrong during the negotiations, it would likely be Trudeau's fault. Trump has said that Russian Federation should have been readmitted to the negotiations.
Canada's Freeland, who met with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Friday, said she would speak to him later on Sunday, adding that she believes a deal to renew the North American Free Trade Agreement is still possible.

Trump has also caused concern among his party and even within his administration in seeking to fix US relations with the Kremlin. In a trade war , Trump told reporters that the United States has nothing to lose.
