As police closed in, a man suspected of gunning down four people over three days shot himself to death Monday, which authorities said ended a killing spree that claimed the lives of a prominent psychiatrist, two paralegals and a marriage-and-divorce counselor. He was found shot dead in north Scottsdale.
Police said that the suspect's ex-wife and son were both unharmed.
Police say a suspect in the killing of Pitt and three other Phoenix area homicides killed himself Monday as SWAT officers entered his room at a hotel. Pitt was shot outside of his office after a loud argument occurred between him and a person who confronted him, according to a witness.
Hoster did not say how the deaths of Pitt, Sharp and Anderson were thought to be connected or address why the three were killed.
Scottsdale police received a call early Saturday about a man found fatally shot inside a business.
"We had a positive hit on Mr. Jones that connects him to all the scenes", he said.
Jones was examined by Pitt under court order during the divorce proceedings, Slavin said.
Sgt. Vince Lewis, a Phoenix police spokesman, told WCNC News that police did not fire any shots at the suspect and no one else was injured.

Williams' opening match against Kristyna Pliskova turned into a serving contest, which played right into the American's hands. Williams, the 23-time major champion, gave birth to a daughter in September and saw her rankings tumble while she was out.
Police said an acquaintance found Marshall Levine, a 72-year-old psychologist and counselor, dead of a gunshot wound in his office, roughly halfway between the sites of the previous shootings. The two, Veleria Sharp and Laura Anderson, were paralegals for Burt, Feldman and Grenier, a family law firm.
The woman later died at a hospital.
Since moving to Arizona, Kleinman said Levine worked as a life coach and hypnotherapist and dealt with clients who often "are angry".
A decade later, Pitt helped Phoenix police in the Baseline Killer investigation as they sought a man who later convicted of killing nine people.
The website of Burt/Feldman/Grenier, the law firm that employed Sharp and Anderson, says it practices divorce, child support and other aspects of family law litigation and mediation.
While Slavin said police have not been able to determine a motive for the murders, he said all of the previously identified victims were related to Jones through his divorce with his ex-wife from 2009. He also served as a consultant to prosecutors in the grand jury probe into the death of 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, who was found bludgeoned and strangled in her parents' Boulder, Colorado home.
Throughout his many years, Pitt worked on a number of other cases as well - such as the Columbine school shooting and the Jodi Arias trial - assisting law enforcement with everything from unusual murder mysteries to serial killers.
