North Korea summit back on as scheduled

Secretary of State Pompeo Meets With North Korean General to Iron Out Summit

Donald Trump waits on Kim Jong-un letter, talks up possible meeting

However, less than 24 hours later, the USA leader hinted that the meeting may still take place, citing "very productive talks" with North Korea and its commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the nuclear issue.

In a move that is sure to worry USA allies in Japan and South Korea, Trump also said that he and his guest had discussed U.S. troop numbers on the Korean peninsula.

"We talked about nearly everything".

"It will take bold leadership from Chairman Kim Jong Un if we were able to seize this once in a lifetime opportunity to change the course for the world", Pompeo said Thursday.

The current rapprochement on the peninsula was triggered by the games, to which the North sent athletes, cheerleaders, and his sister as an envoy.

After the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, Trump walked Kim out of the White House.

North Korean officials said Kim Yong Chol was expected to return to Pyongyang shortly.

"We'll see what happens", Trump said on Thursday.

Talking Points From England 2-1 Nigeria
No one should blame Onigbinde for the players that were not picked, I challenge anyone who says that. He will announce his final 23-man squad for Russian Federation 2018 after this England game.

Earlier, President Trump said talks between Pompeo and Kim Yong Chol had been going well, and that he hoped to hold a summit with Kim Jong Un in Singapore on the originally scheduled date of June 12.

He added that much of the diplomacy must also be assisted by the DPRK's regional neighbors like South Korea, Japan and China.

"I think they want to do that".

Trump stopped short of making promises of what would come of the historic summit, however, noting, "It will be a process..."

Trump said the lengthy conversation Friday "went very well" and called it "a get to know you kind of a situation".

Trump said that, after Friday's talks, the parties are "totally over that and now we're going to deal and we're going to really start a process". According to Reuters, the Shangri-La Suite in the hotel's Valley Wing had a price tag of 10,000 Singapore dollars, or about $7,471, for the night of June 12.

Kim Yong-chol delivered a letter from the North Korean leader to Trump during their meeting at the Oval Office. "He has deliberately sabotaged the talks over the last two weeks & was setting us up to take the blame".

Pompeo said he believes North Korea is contemplating a new strategic path forward, but he cautioned that the country would "have to choose a path that is fundamentally different" to achieve security - meaning complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) tweeted after Trump announced the cancellation of the meeting. And if the U.S. grants this wish without getting a good deal in return, it could send both parties back to the brink of nuclear war.
